GW Clarke Renaming Ribbon Cutting & Dedication
This ribbon cutting celebrates the official renaming of 302nd Place to G.W. Clarke Drive, a small but meaningful step as this area continues to grow and become part of Adel’s expanding community.
This roadway sits entirely within Adel city limits and will soon serve as a key connection into a new residential subdivision. As development moves forward, the City is updating the street name to match Adel’s local naming system and provide clearer navigation for residents, visitors, and emergency services.
Beyond the practical update, this moment also gives us the opportunity to honor Governor George W. Clarke, a longtime Adel resident and Iowa’s 21st Governor. His legacy of public service, leadership, and commitment to strengthening communities reflects the values we continue to build on here in Adel today.
This ribbon cutting marks both progress and recognition—celebrating growth in this part of the city while honoring a leader whose story is deeply tied to our community.
We are grateful to the residents, developers, and partners who have helped bring this project forward, and we look forward to seeing G.W. Clarke Drive become an important part of Adel’s future.
